Skoptsov, Semyon Sergeyevich

(1917-1998) 
 

Semyon Skoptsov was born in Rostov-on-Don.  He started his artistic education at Rostov Art College, then entered Moscow State Art Institute named after V. Surikov.  Ther he was lucky to study under Professor I.E. Graber, one of the brightest followers of impressionists in Russian painting and S.V. Gerasimov a master of socialist realism.  Semyon’s works are now kept in the Rostov Fine Arts Museum, Art Museum of Pereslavl-Zalessky, Irkutsk Regional Art Museum, Museum of Arts of Buriaatia in Ulan-Ude, in the Art Fund of the Russian Federation.  Skoptsov is an Honorary Artist of Russia.
